What Will Happen If I Change The Price Of A Package After People Have Booked?

Things change, including prices! So what happens if you change the price of one of your Packages? It's an important detail you don't want to miss!

Question

I have a tour in which the price point has decreased since the initial bookings were made. If I change the price of the PACKAGE from $2,000 to $4,000, how will this change affect Travelers who have already booked this Package?

Answer

You will be prompted to make a choice when you edit the PACKAGE.

🔒Change Package Price with Option to Lock in Existing Prices

If you need to edit package prices without impacting people already booked onto the package, you’ll have the option to “PERSONALIZE PRICE” to lock in the booked price when you are changing the package price.

If you see this tooltip, then you'll know the option will appear in the next step:

On the next step you'll be prompted to make your decision:

  • If you click DO NOT PERSONALIZE, then everyone will get the new price

  • If you click PERSONALIZE X PERSON/PEOPLE, then people already booked will get a personalized price based on the original package price. Anyone booking onto the PACAKGE in the future will get the new price.
    • When you select PERSONALIZE, it will also copy the current pricing explanation to their personalized pricing explanation. This is the same as when doing it via EDIT from the TripCRM.

Alternative Options

If you have a lot of people already booked and you want those already booked to pay the original price, and new people to pay the new price, you could also create a new Package and then simply  hide the original one.

Don't worry: you don't have to use this feature, simply click "DO NOT PERSONALIZE" to keep doing what you've always done.
