Require Login on Trip Pages - Enable Magic Links with Passwords

Do you have a security requirement that means Magic Links are too much magic? Require Login for Magic Links on your account.

Traveler Accounts

Learn more about a Traveler Account on YouLi and then read on below about requiring your Travelers to make one.

👉 Do you have a security requirement that means Magic Links are too much magic?

If you need this level of security, you can request that your trips require a Traveler to have an account and be logged in to access their Trip Page.

  • This means the Magic Link can no longer be shared with anyone other than the traveler who has access to their account
  • When the Magic Link is clicked, the traveler will be prompted to login with a password to access their trip. If they don't have an account, they can create one.
  • Or the Traveler can login to their dashboard and see all their trips in one place

This can either be inconvenient or exactly what you're looking for - depending on your customers.

We recommend enabling this with Platform White Label to avoid traveler confusion when they are redirected to login.

User Experience

Initial Booking

When this option is enabled, Travelers can still access your Public TRIP LINK and register or book onto a Public TRIP without having an account.

Once they have made completed the registration form, they will be redirected to login. From there, they can either Sign Up or Login, depending on whether they already have an account. Read more about Traveler Accounts here

Popup on Login

You can set the message that appears when the recently booked Traveler is sent to the login screen. (regardless of the checkbox setting)

Go to Trip Settings -> Message emailed after registration

trip-settings-show-message-checkoutflow-require-loginand set it to something like:

Thank you for registering for your trip!
Welcome to our travel platform, if this is your first time travelling with us click 'Sign Up' to create a new account. Otherwise login to continue to manage your booking

Clicking on Magic Link

When they click on any email sent from YouLi or any Magic Link you share with them, they will be redirected to Login before they can access their Trip Page. The Magic Link still acts as a "deep link" to their TRIP, but they won't be able to see personal information unless they have successfully logged into their account and their email address matches the email they used to register on the trip.

Troubleshooting

My Traveler is logged in but doesn't see their TRIP

Go to their TripBoard on the TRIP and check that they have made an account and logged in. If you see "(no account)" they probably made an account with a different email address. Ask them to change their account email or change the email on the trip for them.

As soon as the emails match, the TRIP will appear on their Dashboard.

My Traveler doesn't remember if they made an account

Ask them to try to Sign Up. If they are told there is already an account with that email, then they should click Forgot Password from the Login.

Learn more about Traveler Accounts.

My Traveler isn't getting their Forgot Password email

Remind them to check their Spam if they aren't seeing the password reset email.

  • If your account is Platform White Label the emails are sent from the domain you configured for White Label Email Sending.
  • Otherwise, the emails are sent from "support@youli.io"
Ask your Traveler to add the sending address to their contacts and search for messages from that address.

Extra Considerations: No going back...

Once this is enabled, you will not be able to switch back to Magic Links without passwords. So be sure you're ready to make the switch before requesting this feature.

NOTE: Not big enough for Enterprise Platform White Label, but need to require login?

Be sure to read about Traveler Accounts and be sure you are happy to push your Travelers to make a YouLi branded Account. If not, best to avoid this option.

If you're happy to proceed, any Annual premium plan can request this option be enabled - however, we do not provide user support for your Travelers and it CANNOT be disabled once turned on.
