Launching a Large Trip or High-Traffic Event (Influencers, Email Blasts, or Major Announcements)

Large traffic spikes can impact platform performance. To protect all customers, YouLi may temporarily block traffic if usage exceeds contracted limits or risks affecting platform stability.

When Should You Read This?

This article applies if you are:

  • Launching a trip to hundreds or thousands of travelers
  • Working with social media influencers
  • Sending a large email blast
  • Opening limited-seat trips expected to sell quickly
  • Running multi-wave launches
  • Expecting simultaneous checkouts

Option 1: Launch Without YouLi Involvement (Standard Approach)

If you plan to handle the launch yourself, please notify YouLi in advance and follow these best practices.

Step 1 — Notify YouLi in Advance

Contact your Account Manager and share:

  • Launch date(s) and time(s)
  • Estimated traffic volume
  • Number of seats available
  • Expected number of simultaneous users
  • Whether you're using influencers or email blasts

This allows us to monitor proactively, even if you're not purchasing additional capacity.

Step 2 — Use a Landing Page (Highly Recommended)

Instead of sending users directly to your YouLi Trip:

Do this:

  • Send traffic to a landing page first
  • Then funnel users gradually to the booking page

This helps prevent sudden spikes that can overwhelm the system.

Example:

  • Influencer post → Landing Page
  • Email Blast → Landing Page
  • Landing Page → Trip Booking

Step 3 — Stagger Your Launch (Wave Approach)

Instead of sending everyone at once:

Better approach:

  • Wave 1 — VIP / Early Access
  • Wave 2 — Small Group
  • Wave 3 — Full Launch

This reduces risk and improves checkout success.

Step 4 — Monitor Your Launch

During your launch:

  • Monitor bookings
  • Watch for slowdowns
  • Stay in contact with your Account Manager if needed

Important: Usage Limits & Traffic Blocking

To protect platform performance for all customers:

  • If traffic spikes exceed contracted usage
  • If traffic risks affecting other customers
  • If sudden traffic resembles DDoS-like activity

YouLi may temporarily block traffic to your trip.

This is rare — but may occur during large simultaneous launches.

Once traffic stabilizes, access will be restored.

Option 2: Request Additional Capacity (Recommended for Large Launches)

If you're planning a high-volume launch, we recommend contacting your Account Manager to discuss:

  • Temporary capacity increase
  • Launch monitoring
  • Traffic management
  • Performance safeguards

This helps ensure:

  • No slowdowns
  • No checkout issues
  • No risk of traffic blocking

Additional capacity may involve additional pricing, depending on expected volume.

Best Practices for Large Launches

✅ Notify YouLi in advance
✅ Use a landing page
✅ Stagger traffic (wave releases)
✅ Avoid sending all traffic at once
✅ Monitor performance during launch
✅ Consider additional capacity for major launches

Example: What a Smooth Launch Looks Like

A recent large launch used:

  • Multiple traffic waves
  • Landing page funnel
  • Advance notification to YouLi

Result:

  • 300+ travelers booked
  • No crashes
  • Minor slowdowns only
  • Trip sold out successfully

This is the recommended approach for large events.

Not Sure If Your Launch Is "Large"?

Contact your Account Manager if you:

  • Expect 100+ simultaneous users
  • Expect to sell out quickly
  • Are working with influencers
  • Are sending large email campaigns

We're happy to advise.
