Become a PayPal Merchant - Create a Business Account
If you aren't already a PayPal Merchant, you'll need to create a Business Account, either before you connect or as part of the process.
Go to PayPal to learn about their business accounts.
Connect to PayPal from Account -> Payments
NOTE: You must be a Team Owner or Admin to connect a gateway to your account.
- Make sure you are logged into https://youli.io when connecting a gateway (you cannot use your White Label Domain to connect)
- Select Account from the left menu, then Payments.
- Then scroll to CONNECT TO PAYPAL

You'll be redirected to a PayPal page where you can login to your existing business account or start the process to make a new one.
It should look something like this. Follow the instructions once you authenticate to complete the connection.

Once connected, you'll be returned to YouLi and see confirmation that your connection has been established, like this:

This allows you to see:
- Your Connected PayPal Business Name
- YouLi Booking Fee
And take these actions:
- Go to PayPal Dashboard
- Disconnect
- Use this option if you want to switch PayPal accounts or use a different gateway.
- Use this option if you want to switch PayPal accounts or use a different gateway.
WARNING: Disconnecting will remove the ability for Travelers to make payments on all your Trips (unless they have Trip specific gateways connected). So only do this if you are going to close your account or you plan to reconnect quickly to another gateway.
Experience for Travelers
Once PayPal is connected, on Trips where Credit Card Payment method is
When your Travelers click to PAY NOW, they will see a popup to select whether they login to PayPal or have the option to enter their credit or debit card directly.
From the invoice (this example is on the Trip Page, the Checkout Flow is slightly different), the Traveler will choose:
- PayPal or Credit Card

and then click PAY NOW

In the popup they will see a choice to
- PayPal - if they have a PayPal account
- Debit or Credit Card - if they want to enter the card details directly
The PayPal popup form changed as November 2025 in the 2.212 update.
Previously there was an option to enter payment details in an embedded form. This option has been removed and replaced with the "Debit or Credit Card" button.
This is to reduce the fees you (as the merchant) pay to PayPal. The new option takes the Traveler through a flow that has lower fees than using an embedded form.
This does mean that YouLi no longer supports Saved Card and no longer collects the Billing Address details - this information is stored in PayPal (if collected) and can be accessed from their portal if needed.
