I am a Planner in the United States. Do I need to comply with HIPAA?
- From our understanding (although we aren't lawyers!), Trip Planners don't fall under HIPPA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) because they are not healthcare providers.
- "A covered entity is defined by HIPAA as anyone who created, collects, or transmits PHI during as part of the treatment, payment and operations when providing healthcare.
- "HIPAA does not protect all health information. Nor does it apply to every person who may see or use health information. HIPAA only applies to covered entities and their business associates."
